Would you like to explore footpaths and hiking trails accompanied by an experienced tour guide? – Guided tours are offered nearly every day. The Tourist club Schönau a. Königssee, the administration of the national park and  mountaineering schools offer guided tours at all levels of difficulty.

The Ruperti Theatre regularly shows charming and indigenous entertainment theatre in a pleasant and light-hearted manner. From May to October you can see the drama group Ruperti perform every Wednesday at the Inn Haus des Gastes (lecture hall).

Every Friday when the weather is good, we have open-air concerts in the music pavilion, where orchestras come from all over Berchtesgaden and the neighbouring country Austria.

Feel a flair of „Tour de France“ on the 15th of June 2008. Come to participate or encourage and celebrate with us! The Berchtesgaden Bicycle Marathon with a length of 201 kilometres and at an altitude of 3,840 metres is one of the biggest events on the sports calendar. More than 1,700 participants from 14 countries faced this challenge last year.

Enjoy a romantic journey crossing Lake Königssee in winter time. After arriving at St. Bartholomew on the lonely peninsula you can enjoy the atmosphere of a wonderful pre-Christmas evening in the pilgrimage church with genuine popular music, and conclude the day with an excellent 4-course meal in the historical Inn of St. Bartholomew.

The time shortly before Christmas is celebrated in a very charming way in Berchtesgaden. With many enchanting customs and traditions time passes by quickly until the final Christmas feast. Almost every town in the region has a Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market).

Each year during the week which celebrates the day of Bartholomew (August 24), a pilgrimage from Maria Alm in Austria to St. Bartholomew at Lake Königssee, crossing the bordering Sea of Stones (a limestone plateau), takes place.
